Department of Head and Neck Surgical Oncology:
The department of Head & Neck Surgical Oncology at HCG Cancer Hospital, Ahmedabad is renowned across the country for its expertise. It runs its own head and neck fellowship which has trained many national and international fellows. It has fully functional and exclusive OPD, five well equipped OTs, microscopes, Luminus CO2 LASER, Nerve Monitoring system, Da Vinci Surgical Robotic System etc. with a well-trained OT staff. Assisted by the exceptional department of plastic surgery and reconstruction, the department has proven record of delivering excellence. It takes care 3000+ new patients of head and neck cancers per year, with 1500+ Head & Neck surgeries performed by the department each year, with 350+ microvascular reconstructions. The wide spectrums of surgeries that are performed by this department include advance ablative and reconstructive surgeries together with micro – vascular surgeries, micro laryngeal surgeries, endo – lasers, minimal access surgeries and Robotic Surgeries.
The department is known for its strong academics, with publications and presentations, regular multidisciplinary tumour board meetings, Journal clubs and seminars. Fellows are constantly encouraged to participate in academics.
Neeti Clinics enjoys the privilege of being one of the tertiary care centres for surgical management of Head Neck Cancers, catering to Vidarbha, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand.
With an illustrious history of 21 years of ethical practice, standard of care treatment and up to date infrastructure, academics always has been priority. Amongst many firsts to its credit, it established 1st LASER in the region, micro- vascular reconstruction, intra- operative nerve monitoring in addition to original work in thyroid and oral submucous fibrosis surgery.
In our OPD, we have 5 dedicated consulting chambers, minor operating theater for endoscopies & biopsies, facilities for nutrition, financial & psychosocial counseling.

The Department of Head and Neck Surgery at Patel Hospital was established in 2006. It is currently staffed by thirty full-time personnel including four consultants, two fellows, two SRs, observers, research assistant, practice manager, nurse coordinators, HN nurse managers and HN operative technicians.
Nine(of twelve) Departmental divisions are cancer focused(HN oncology, reconstructive surgery, HN robotic surgery, thyroid/parathyroid, laser/laryngology, salivary gland/skull base, voice & swallowing centre, endoscopic skull base, maxillofacial rehabilitation- Other divisions include facial plastics, sleep apnea and cochlear implantation).
The Department evaluates over 1100 new and over 6000 follow-up patients annually. Our surgeons perform over 2000 procedures annually encompassing the entire spectrum of head and neck surgery, including over 300 cancer resections/reconstructions. The HN Cancer Multidisciplinary Team comprises over 20 consultants across multiple allied specialties including Radiation Oncology, Medical Oncology, Plastic Surgery, Pathology, Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, SLP; and has conducted a HN surgical fellowship program since 2014, incorporating rotations in the abovementioned departments.
The academic program of the fellowship incorporates grand rounds, HN tumor/reconstructive boards, M&M, journal club with a frequency of three times a week. The Department has presented over 40 original abstracts and over 120 oral presentations pertaining to HN cancer at national/international meetings since July 2010.

Mahatma Gandhi Cancer Hospital is a high volume, well equipped cancer center having advanced technology, experienced and efficient medical team, delivering comprehensive cancer care in Maharashtra & Karnataka. Along with Shiv Cancer Institute, our sister concern, totaling to 100 beds.
We’re a tertiary care unit, located in Miraj under guidance of eminent oncosurgeon Dr Sharad Desai since 2004 having two dedicated modular operative theaters, endoscopy & bronchoscopy unit, minor OT for biopsies & scopies. Well-equipped, illuminated examination room with various scopes, indirect laryngoscopy (Hopkin scopy) & dental chair.

Medanta- The Medicity is a 1250 bedded tertiary care centre situated in the heart of Gurugram Delhi - NCR. The department of head and neck Oncosurgery is a separate super speciality in the hospital with independent OPD and indoor patients floor. It works in close association with the department of medical oncology, radiation oncology , endocrinology, pathology, radiology, nuclear medicine and speech & swallowing rehabilitation to provide comprehensive high quality care to the patients. The department is well equipped and has a CO2 laser, Da Vinci Robot, flouroscope, dedicated OR and 3-D printing devices for reconstruction. It's a high volume centre with 1500 new cases per year and over 800 operations in the department. It has a strong thyroid and parathyroid surgery as well as microvascular reconstruction programme.
The department comprises of 3 consultants and two fellows. Fellows are suppose to follow a prefixed programme as scheduled by the department which comprises of ward rounds, attending patients in the OPD, assisting and hands on in the OR , CME, lectures, tumor board and rotation in allied departments. Head & neck surgical oncology fellowship at KMCH, Coimbatore.
Overview
KMCH is a 750 bedded, multi-specialty hospital in Coimbatore that serves as a tertiary referral center for western Tamilnadu and adjoining states. Large number of patients from other parts of Asia and Africa also come here for its high quality treatment at affordable costs. It has a dedicated cancer block housing all relevant specialities. Additional facilities for cadaver dissection, basic research and clinical trials are available within the campus in the form of a new medical college, research and biostatistics department and anatomy and other laboratories.
Program description
The head & neck surgical oncology fellowship program at KMCH was started in 2015 and has already trained 2 fellows. It offers a wide range and high volume of cases for acquiring surgical skills. These include thyroid and parathyroid surgery, surgery for tumors of the oral cavity, oropharynx, larynx and hypopharynx, transoral surgery, parotidectomy, endoscopic sinus and skull base surgery, and reconstructive surgery. The program faculty themselves perform local and regional flaps for reconstruction. However, in-house microvascular reconstructive surgeons provide free tissue transfer service. For head and neck pathology extending into the cranial cavity or thorax, neurosurgery/ thoracic surgery collaboration is undertaken. The fellow would progress through a structured training program that involves initial assisting, followed by supervised and independent operating. The fellow can expect to perform over 400 major procedures as the primary surgeon during the 2 years of the program. Clinical research is essential and publication of at least one peer reviewed original article is expected.

This potent combination of man and machine ensures world-class cancer care to not only patients from India, but also from the neighboring SAARC countries and others. We are fortunate to have taken care of over 2.5 Lakh patients since inception in 1996.Eighteen percent of these patients account for Head & Neck cancer. The Institute offers super specialized tertiary care services in Medical, Surgical and Radiation Oncology, streamlined into dedicated Site-Specific teams. Super Specialists at RGCI&RC practice an organ specific multi-disciplinary approach to cancer diagnosis and treatment, with the Tumor Board acting as a second opinion clinic for cases that are more critical than others.
Approximately 100 to 120 major H&N cancer surgeries are performed every month. We have state of the art equipment like operating microscope, laser equipment, Robotic suite and various endoscopes. We are already running DNB surgical oncology programme with intake of two students per year.
Head and Neck multispecialty clinic is held on every Tuesday from 3PM to 4 PM. Head and Neck specialty has four faculty consultants, six attending consultants and in addition to senior residents as well as DNB students. We have Integrated Cancer Research Program and Laboratory Services which drive continuous improvement in all aspects of treatment and clinical care. Clinical Care is based on evidence based medicine with emphasis on multi modal treatment. Tumor Board and Multi-specialty clinics with emphasis on ethics and patient participation are the DNA of RGCIRC.

About the center:
Dr. Bhubaneswar Borooah Cancer Institute (BBCI), Guwahati is a Grant In-Aid Institute of the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India and a unit of Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai. It is a 264 bedded hospital equipped with three Linear Accelerator, two Tele-cobalt and a Brachytherapy machine. The institute has high dose Nuclear Medicine facility. It also has Hospital Cancer Registry and Population Cancer Registry, which helps in generating epidemiological data. The institute is already running various academic courses like DM, Medical Oncology, MCH, Surgical Oncology, MD, Radiotherapy, and Fellowship in Pathology, Gynecologic Oncology, and Head and Neck oncology. It also has a DBT center for molecular biology.
The Department of Head and Neck Oncology (HNO) routinely performs all types of major surgeries including composite resection of Oral cavity tumor, surgeries of Thyroid, Larynx, Parotid, paranasal sinuses, neck dissections, Skull base surgeries and various reconstructive surgeries including micro-vascular free flaps. CO2 Laser surgeries are also performed in selected group of patients. Around 3000 head and neck cases are seen in the OPD. Around 700 major cases and 1000 minor surgical procedures were performed last year (2018). 3000 endoscopic procedures like flexible pharyngo-esophagoscopy and fibre-optic bronchoscopies are performed each year. The faculty of the department conducts grand rounds, holds seminars, journal clubs and monthly surgical audit as part of its academic activities. Research by faculties and trainees have been published in multiple international and national Journals.
We welcome you to Max superspeciality hospital , Vaishali. It is a 300 bedded hospital with all state of art facilities. We have now started new oncology tower ( Max institute of cancer care - MICC) with 100 beds with 6 operation theaters exclusively for oncosurgery along with surgical ICU. We are one of the largest team of about 25 senior oncologists. It is a center based on Disease management group (DMG); with separate dedicated surgical oncologist, radiation oncologist and medical oncologist for different subspecialty like Head and neck, Breast etc
In head and neck DMG, we usually operate 25-50 major cases per month and we usually see 50-100 new patients per month. We have all state of art facilities like skull base surgeries, Laser surgery and microvascular reconstruction and all OPD facilities like FOL, EUS and EBUS.
At present, we have DNB in radiation and medical oncology. We conduct regular tumour board for head and neck cases. We have facilities of IMRT, IGRT and Tru beam, day care center for medical oncology, nuclear medicine with RAI and PET CT facility and intervention radiology. With a view to give high priority to research, we are registered as MICC in research gate.

Introduction

About the fellowship: The Department of Head and Neck Oncology and Reconstructive Surgery at Mazumdar Shaw Medical Centre, Narayana Health Bangalore specialises in comprehensive treatment and rehabilitation of patients with head and neck cancer. The department is a high-volume centre for treatment of oral cancer, thyroid and parathyroid diseases, salivary gland, laryngeal and skull base tumours. It sees over 5000 patients annually in the OPD, performing around 850 major surgeries annually. It caters to national and international patients. It is a strong reconstructive unit, performing over 250 free flap reconstructions in-house annually. All the consultants in the unit routinely perform microvascular reconstruction and have subspecialty interests, such as robotic surgery, lateral skull base surgery, endoscopic skull base surgery, osseointegrated implantology and facial nerve reanimation. The department is well equipped, with two dedicated head and neck operating theatres per day, operating microscopes, CO2 laser, endoscopic skull base instruments, the da Vinci Xi robot, neuro-navigation equipment and nerve monitoring systems. It is a referral centre for complex, redo and salvage surgeries. Complex cases receive excellent multidisciplinary care through the support of dedicated neurosurgical, thoracic and gastrointestinal oncology departments, in addition to radiation oncology, medical oncology and palliative care departments. The unit also has integrated dental oncology and swallowing therapy units, which are vital for holistic perioperative care and rehabilitation of patients of head and neck cancer. The Mazumdar Shaw Centre for Translational Research is a resource fellows can use to partake translational and molecular research projects; it is the only centre in India to have received an NIH-funded research grant with ongoing projects in oral cancer screening, molecular imaging, mechanisms of treatment resistance and immunotherapy.
